How Paternity testing works?

At North Queensland Drug Detection (NQDD), we provide accurate and confidential paternity testing to help confirm biological relationships with confidence. Our testing process is simple, discreet, and conducted in full compliance with NATA-accredited laboratory standards.

A paternity test compares the DNA profile of the child with that of the alleged father (and mother if available) to determine whether a biological relationship exists. DNA samples are collected using a non-invasive cheek swab, which painlessly gathers cells from inside the mouth. Each sample is then securely packaged and sent to our accredited partner laboratory, where analysis is performed using advanced genetic testing technology.

What we need?

To conduct a paternity test, we require consent and identification from all individuals being tested, along with a completed chain-of-custody form provided by NQDD. DNA samples are collected using simple cheek swabs from the child and the alleged father, with the mother’s sample optional but recommended to improve accuracy. All collections are performed under strict identification and documentation procedures to maintain legal integrity. Once received, samples are sent to our accredited partner laboratory for analysis, with results typically available within 5–7 business days and an accuracy rate of over 99.9%.
